Your cone crusher gears are getting louder and wearing out faster. Don’t replace them yet—check the meshing first. Loud noise usually means the large gear and pinion are not properly engaged. When noise drops, transmission becomes stable and gear life extends. How does ONA solve this with meshing tests, custom manufacturing, and strict material control?
Why Gear Meshing Matters

Cone crushers commonly use a large gear and pinion (bevel gears), not only suitable for Metso HP series but also suitable for Omnicone, Symons, MP, GP, and Sandvik CH/H models. Poor meshing causes:
1. Loud noise
2. High temperature
3. Rapid wear
4. Frequent downtime
Noise is the most direct signal of meshing quality. The fit among eccentric sleeve, main shaft, and main frame directly affects meshing. Adjustment differs by model:
1. For Omnicones: push the eccentric sleeve toward the pinion.
2. For HP crushers: push the thick side of the eccentric sleeve toward the main shaft.
ONA understands both gears and assembly logic—the basis for manufacturing to drawings.
Straight Bevel vs Spiral Bevel Gears
Cone crushers mainly use straight bevel gears and spiral bevel gears. Intersecting-axis bevel gears achieve transmission efficiency of 98.0–99.0%. Straight bevel gears are simple with low axial force but noisier. Spiral bevel gears have higher contact ratio, smoother transmission, and lower noise—ideal for high-speed, heavy-load conditions. Choosing the right type is the first step to reducing noise.
ONA can produce both types to drawings and perform meshing tests. Noise level is verified after assembly.
ONA’s Core Process: Listening to Noise
ONA's meshing test logic is simple: loud noise means poor meshing; low noise means good meshing. This is based on repeated tests, not guesswork. A customer reported increasing noise and higher temperature. ONA engineers found poor meshing on the old gear. After replacing it with an ONA gear made to drawings and readjusting the eccentric sleeve and meshing clearance, noise dropped significantly and operation became stable. The before-and-after difference is clear.
At no load, the meshing rate between gear and pinion is about 60%. Too low causes noise and wear; too high may cause rapid temperature rise. ONA does not deliver "close enough"—we confirm proper meshing by test. Low noise is not luck; it comes from material, cutting, grinding, and meshing tests. We retain meshing test traces for traceability.

Conclusion: Quality You Can Trace
From suitable for Metso HP to suitable for Omnicone, Symons, MP, GP, and Sandvik CH/H, ONA covers gears for many cone crusher series. Whether straight or spiral bevel, we produce to drawings, perform meshing tests, retain test traces, and provide full inspection reports. Low noise, good meshing, and long life are our basic requirements for every gear set. If you are struggling with noisy, short-lived cone crusher gears, send us your drawings or part numbers. ONA helps you solve the problem from the meshing up.
