Inside ONA’s Workshop: Assembling the HP400 Head Assembly

Recently, ONA successfully completed the assembly of an HP400 head assembly suitable for Metso cone crushers at its workshop. The entire process was recorded on video, demonstrating our OEM-level assembly capabilities and commitment to quality.

The HP400 cone crusher, a popular model suitable for the Metso HP series, is widely used in mining, quarrying, and aggregate production. Its head assembly is the core moving part and consists of many precision parts, including bronze upper and lower head bushings, head ball, head, seals, and bolts. Assembly precision directly affects crusher life and product quality. All parts are prepared and inspected before assembly. ONA engineers then mark critical dimensions and use dry ice to shrink-fit the bronze upper and lower bushings, head ball, and pin into position. Bolts are inserted, the head ball is installed, and welding and fasteners secure the head assembly. Glue is applied to the T-seal to ensure proper sealing.

“Every step is critical,” says an ONA engineer who worked on this assembly. “We follow the original drawings and check every fit to make sure the assembly performs reliably in the field.”
