Bolts and nuts are available in various materials, each with distinct properties and applications. ONA always use 35#/45# steel, which 8.8 grade. If customers need 10.9 grade, we can customized too. Some customers ask what's the difference of material 35#/45# steel and Q235, Q335?
Difference between 35#/45# steel and Q235 steel?
Characteristic
35#/45# steel (medium carbon steel)
Q235 steel (low carbon steel)
Carbon Content
The carbon content of 35# steel is about 0.35%, and the carbon content of 45# steel is about 0.45%.
Carbon content less than 0.22%
Strength
High strength, tensile strength ≥600MPa, yield strength ≥355MPa
The strength is relatively low, with a tensile strength of 370-500MPa and a yield strength of about 235MPa
Hardness
The hardness is relatively high. Before heat treatment, the hardness is lower than HRC28. After quenching and tempering, the hardness can reach HRC22-HRC33
Low hardness, less than HRC20
Welding Performance
Poor welding performance, prone to cracks
Good welding performance, suitable for welding structural parts
Processing Performance
The processing is difficult and suitable for manufacturing high-strength mechanical parts.
Easy to process, suitable for cold working and welding operations
Heat Treatment
Frequent heat treatments such as quenching and tempering to improve hardness and wear resistance
Generally no heat treatment is performed and the heat treatment effect is not obvious
Usage
Used to manufacture high-strength mechanical parts such as shafts, gears, couplings, etc.
Used to manufacture welded structural parts such as steel structures, brackets, fences, platforms, etc.
Difference between Q235 steel and Q345 steel?
Characteristic
Q235 Steel
Q345 Steel
Carbon Content
Carbon content less than 0.22%
Carbon content <0.20%
Strength
Yield strength 235MPa, tensile strength 370-500MPa
Yield strength 345MPa, tensile strength ≥470MPa
Hardness
Lower hardness, better plasticity
Higher hardness and high strength
Welding Performance
Good welding performance, suitable for welding structural parts
The welding performance is better, but not as good as Q235
Processing Performance
Easy to process, suitable for cold working and welding operations
Good processing properties, but higher strength
Usage
Used for general structural parts, buildings, bridges, etc.
Used for structural parts and machinery manufacturing that require higher strength
Price
Lower price
The price is slightly higher, but it saves 15%-20% of steel compared to Q235
ONA is also processed stone crusher part according to the original factory drawings and materials, and the crusher wear part product quality is strictly controlled. Don't worry, if other materials and requirements are needed, we will provide professional suggestions, and after the customer's consideration, we will produce according to the customer's requirements.
