Two Names, One Function
The main shaft sleeve is installed at the top of the main shaft assembly, where it serves as the primary contact surface between the main shaft and the eccentric bushing. This location subjects it to the highest radial loads during crushing. By shielding the main shaft from direct friction at this critical point, the sleeve extends the service life of the entire shaft assembly. The main shaft sleeve is suitable for Sandvik, and the protection bushing is suitable for Metso – both components serve the identical function of forming the primary sliding contact surface between the main shaft and the eccentric bushing. In both designs, the sleeve is a sacrificial bronze wear part that absorbs friction, protects the expensive main shaft from scoring, and maintains proper oil film clearance during crusher operation.
