1What Does Bowl Mean in HP Series
In crushers suitable for Metso HP series, the bowl refers specifically to the fixed outer shell, a heavy cast steel structure that holds the bowl liner and engages with the adjustment ring via external threads. It is a long-life component, not a wear part.

Alternative Terms for Bowl
In crushers suitable for Metso GP series, the fixed bowl is rarely called the bowl alone; the wear liner inside it is often referred to as the bowl liner or concave. In crushers suitable for Sandvik CH and CS series, the structural shell is called the top shell or bowl assembly, while the liner is called the concave. Similar naming differences exist for crushers suitable for Symons, Trio, and other brands. The table below lists some hot-selling bowl part numbers:

Key Functions of the Bowl
The bowl provides a rigid mounting surface for the bowl liner. Its external threads allow the adjustment ring to raise or lower the bowl, changing the closed side setting. It transmits crushing forces into the main frame and is made of high-strength alloy steel. A damaged bowl can lead to liner misalignment or frame cracking. Inspect the bowl threads during major overhauls.
Related Components of Bowl
The bowl liner (concave) is the wear part that contacts rock, made of high manganese steel. The bowl assembly is the complete unit, including shell, liner, and wedges. The adjustment ring threads onto the bowl to control the discharge setting. The clamping ring locks the adjustment ring after setting. The counterweight assembly balances eccentric motion. The main shaft and mantle form the moving crushing part opposite the bowl.
